Big News Folks
The great and powerful musical sorcerer Matt Hemerlein and our very own Bentzen Ball Comedy Festival are teaming up to take over the Arts Club of Washington next week.
What is the arts club you ask?
Headquartered in the James Monroe House, (in Foggy Bottom) a National Historic Landmark, the Arts Club of Washington was founded in 1916 and is the oldest non-profit arts organization in the city. For more information on the James Monroe House, visit our Monroe House page.
It's also a nice place to take photos and shoot videos.
We'll have all the photos and performances from that shoot later this week, along with more info about this amazing historic space and how they somehow decided to let us put on a show there.
Wednesday Night will be Matt's solo performance and lecture night [details here] and Thursday the 25th will be the first (but not the last) original programming from the Bentzen Ball:
The Family Hemerlein Variety Show
As the very first production that our Bentzen Ball Comedy festival has seen fit to lend its name to in DC, BYT is proud to present the Family Hemerlein Variety Hour Show. Here's Seaton and Matt to tell you more.
The Family Hemerlein Variety show draws from Matt's love of collaborating with musicians and alternative comics.
The night will headline one of our top favorite Bentzen Ball comedians, Ben Kronberg, he of the adorable glasses and mind-bendingly future-jokes and barf-guffaw inducing guitar wizarding and Jimmy Kimmel show destroying:
Carson Daly Obama poem-reading so-and-so:
And he's a great interviewer too! Albeit a nude one.

AND the musical headliner will be Philadelphian song-weaver Birdie Busch, whose gentle but cunning freaky folk will turn your heart into a drum and bang on it slowly.
Of course running throughout will be the musical styling of Matt Hemerlein who will be playing violin, singing, looping shit, and bringing a whole gaggle of his friends and secret special guests with or without beards onstage.
and the whole shebang will be MC'd and anchored by DC's most fortunate and hilarious son, (and longtime BFF of BYT) Seaton Smith.
