Local favs Army of Me, performing in DC for the first time since their album release last April 2007. Over the past year they have toured with The Used and had dates with Athlete, Silverchair, Silversun Pickups, Paramore and Dave Matthews Band (yikes!) so needless to say they've been busy. They'll be joined by The Dance Party, Exit Clov, and Good Night States, plus I'll be DJing inbetween. We have two pairs of tickets to giveaway, as always, just comment below and say you want them. As an added bonus, The Dance Party is gonna throw in a prize package containing their CD plus shit they find lying around their apartment.

I would say that this is Brad and my favorite song on CITIZEN. To me it kind of embodies us as a rock band, sonically and thematically. It's about wanting to do something great with your life and wanting to prove that you're worth something to someone. And it's the realization that no matter what you end up doing in your life or how successful you are in someone else's eyes, if it's done with passion and love, then it is greatness. And it inches you just a bit closer to perfection.
I was talking to a friend of mine who owns a clothing company called Icarus Clothing. Icarus, in Greek Mythology, tried to fly into the sun, but when he got too close to the sun, his wings started to melt. So, the lines for the chorus came to me "I want to fly straight into the sun. I want to burn the 2 into 1". It's a song of unity.
The first song I ever wrote on piano. I remember, I used to work part time at NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) in Gaithersburg, MD, and outside the cafeteria, there was a random piano always in the hall. I used to get to work late, and leave late. And at 5pm, when everyone had left the building, I used to walk down to the cafeteria to play the piano and sing. That's when I wrote Better Run. So, thank you to the taxpayers for the paycheck, while I was busy writing songs... By the way, I think this is Dennis' favorite song on CITIZEN
