This weekend, Paul Newman died. He was 83 and the cause was cancer. If you follow that link above it will take you to a terrifically written article in New York Times about Paul that pays great and proper respect to him.
What I am going to do is run a scene from my #2 favorite movie of all time. For memory’s sake.
Hopefully it prompts you to rent this and “The Sting” on Netflix this week.
Double feature it as a memorial service.
Laugh, cry, quote.
Forever be in pain that you will never be this cool.
he had all the external graces, as well.
September 29, 2008 at 1:57 pmA treasure of an actor and a class act until the end. In a place like Hollywood, he was married to Joanne Woodward for 50 years. Where are the Paul Newman’s of today?

alan - i agree. slapshot is a must for newman AND the “hanson brothers”. the sting (is it just me, or did robert redford look like brad pitt in that movie?) and cool hand luke were my two favorites. i’m shakin’ it up here, boss.

I was sad to hear the news on Saturday morning.
I recently watched Slap Shot for the first time. It’s a hockey comedy with Newman as the coach. The movie is extraordinarily profane and very funny. If you’re ambitious and are thinking of doing a triple feature, I’d suggest that one.
