While the majority of quality repertoiry movies this week actually costs some money and is Halloween related (more on that a little later in the week) there is still a bonanza of things to see and be seen at this week.
Just not today. (though, maybe, just maybe if you go to Zaytinya today en route to say, seeing a movie, at Regal Chinatown, from 5 to 8, you may stumble upon their anniversary celebration, and maybe, just maybe, score some free nosh/cocktails)

First of all, any movie called "Psycho Puppet" is a-ok with us.
This is the deal: A bunch of not-so-bright guys hire an off-his-friggin’-rocker-psycho-nutjob to hunt down bad guys. Once this guy starts killing he can’t stop, so you know what happens next. You guessed it…lots and lots of doughnuts, stock footage, and sloppy police work.

Sometimes you lose the things you love.

“With Love: New Films from Southeast Asia,” continues with this portrait of aging guerilla fighters from Malaysia’s outlawed Communist party living in exile in the Thai jungle. Their reminiscences are punctuated with excerpts from a Malay radio adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Winter’s Tale - a metaphor for the party’s historical relationship to the Malaysian government.

By turns boisterously funny and gently lyrical, this delightful film by husband-and-wife team Woo Yen Yen and Colin Goh follows a family trying to make ends meet in Singapore’s topsy-turvy economy. Their fortunes change when the father wins the lottery - but not necessarily for the best.
