You know the drill: you live in DC and what we lack in H&M outlets we make up for in free, quality things to watch. The handy guide for the week is below: click on links for more details, email to friends, twitter it and in general, enjoy it:
MONDAY
Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse actually has a great double feature for 1 dollar each today: Funny People at 7pm and Away we go at 9:50pm
and as an added bonus, today is the first Monday of Free theater nights @ National Theater GOOOOOOOOOO!
TUESDAY
It is B (Z?) movie heaven for the Washington Psychotronic fans this week with the screening of Pink Flamingos @ Warehouse. It is saying something that even 20 odd years later, this is still considered probably the most contraversial movie ever made, and, as someone who has actually seen this on the big screen (and survived) I can say that seeing it on your TV really does not count when it comes to Pink Flamingos
WEDNESDAY
There is nothing, which is just as well since So You Think you Can Dance, GLEE, Top Chef and Guiliana & Bill are all on tonight
THURSDAY
The space movie series finishes up with a screening Apollo 13 @ Capitol Waterfront, in which, you know, Tom Hanks lets Houston know they have a problem
Take a break on Friday and interact with actual human beings and then on
SATURDAY
For fans of Hungarian cinema (or people who think they might be fans of Hungarian cinema) we have Prank @ National Gallery of Art a 2008 award winning movie about disconent in a 1912 boarding school.
SUNDAY
Asian Pacific American Film Festival is in full swing with a series of terrific documentaries being shown at Freer Sackler. On offer: Operation Babylift at noon and Project Kashmir at 2pm
God loves a cheerful giver.
Thanks for posting our free events at the Freer Svetlana. Our full schedule of films/events/workshops can be found at our 2009 Festival site: http://www.apafilm.org/festival-2009.
