Brightest Young Things

If you ever watched a scary movie with me you are aware that I tend to:
a. not deal
b. hide behind scarves
c. walk out at any notion of anything scary happening anytime soon and start reading a magazine in the room next door
d. not deal

However, the idea of a horror movie is thrilling to me, and secretly I enjoy self-torture which is why I got all amped at the fact that from January 9th to 15th every major city in America (which, yes, includes DC) will be home to Horrorfest (an annual celebration of the horror genre and showcases eight films that run the spectrum of horror to thriller to gore to supernatural, showing "8 Films To Die ForĀ®", in our case at Phoenix Cinemas at Union Station-a really excellent group screaming place if there ever was one)

So for everyone's ease of picking and choosing (tickets are available individually AND as a comprehensive 75 buckaroos package), and for those of you that want an alternative to seeing Cruise and Redford duke it out on the big screen this week, here is a brief summary of what is up. (ex-child stars, trailers probably better than movies themselves and amazingly written synopses)
And jumping at you in the dark:

THE BROKEN
In which Lena Hadley (obviously still in purgatory after the disaster that "Imagine me & you" was) is being stalked by her own evil twin. AND A LOT OF BROKEN MIRRORS.

SLAUGHTER
Somewhere in Atlanta (why always the south? why not in Maine?) Lola's father "HAS DONE IT AGAIN".

PERKINS 14
When victims become the killers, no one is safe.

BUTTERFLY EFFECT-REVELATION
Really? There's already a 3rd one?

FROM WITHIN
It is real, and it comes........................................................(guess from where?)

DYING BREED
Cannibalism! Tasmania! A killer who existed in real life called "The Pieman"! Tigers! Do you really need to know more?

AUTOPSY
Starring the evil dude from "Terminator" 2 as an evil doctor. "At Mercy Hospital-malpractice has a whole new meaning".

VOICES
The token Asian comic book entry. What if those nearest and dearest to you wanted you dead?

Tempted?

and before you go, invest in some loose knit scarves, they're the best ones for peaking through.

God loves a cheerful giver.

i think it's interesting that so many horror movies play on his fear of isolation...it's like if there isn't a starbucks nearby, than surely the local inhabitants are homicidal cultists who feed on human flesh.

Hollywood has always been terrified of the south it seems, like Easy Rider, which, aside from being a good movie, is also an anti-tourism video for all places south of nyc.

i want some city killer movies please.
