Tapes’n'tapes, Minneapolis’ other favorite sons have a new record (Walk it off) out on Beggars and are making a pit stop on their big fat national tour this Wednesday at 930 Club.
White Denim is opening.
Tickets are 20 bones, I think.
We have a pair to give away.
You know the drill:
leave a comment why you want them
do it before noon tomorrow
sit back and wait
we’ll let the winner know by 2 pm Tuesday
i just really like them. and i also really like myself (typical byt sentiment…? )
April 21, 2008 at 12:55 pmmy favorite note is G. they can play the shit out of it. I’m tryin’ to cop their technique.
April 21, 2008 at 2:07 pmi saw T’n'T last year at coachella, and thought they were really good… one of the bigger surprises for me at the festival.
i don’t have tickets yet.
i really really like the 930 Club.
free tickets would definitely motivate me to trek downtown and catch this show.
my friend would think it’s cool that i have a ticket for him, and will thus buy me a ton of drinks - so i’d catch a great show and a buzz, for free.
the above constitute the main reasons why i want these tickets. i could probably come up with more, if you needed me to, but i think this should be sufficient. plus, i assume you’re tired of reading this by now.
April 21, 2008 at 4:25 pmthey did not have to come out with a good second album but they did.
April 21, 2008 at 4:45 pmso I can wear the tshirt to the show.
April 21, 2008 at 4:48 pmTapes’n'Tapes nearly define rock’n'roll. All you have to do is change a couple words, and there you have it.
If my friends and I got to go to this show, well, that would just be rock’n'roll.
Many thanks to BYT ‘n’ please pick me. My friends have an über-desire to see this show and any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
I need those tickets not for me, but for Josh Grier!
Right before a show I had to ‘relieve’ myself. Upon entering the restroom, I see a strange man standing in front of the sink, studying the soap dispenser.
“Eww what a dweeb” Was my first reaction, so I rudely ignore him and continue on my quest of ‘relief’. After I completed said task, I went to the sink only to find him talking to the soap dispenser. Convinced that his ‘dweebiness’ had reached an unprecedented high, I decided to wash my hands and get out as soon as possible. I pushed the soap dispenser and started lathering when the stranger screamed “you broke his nose!” as he violently ripped out the dispenser and exited the bathroom. Shrugging, I finished washing my hands and turned to the paper towel dispenser. Something caught my eye, however. I look down and see a bluish-green pick lying by my foot giving off an aura of light. I picked it up and it read, “Josh Grier’s pick” on one side and “That Guy From Tapes ‘n Tapes” on the other.
“Tapes ‘n Tapes? Sounds like some of that indie rock garbage I’ve been hearing so much about,” I said to myself as I exited the restroom and rushed to my seat in the stadium echoing with the mixture of Hannah Montana’s voice and pre-teen girls screaming.
After doing some research, I found that Josh Grier went to a witch doctor to have his soul crystallized into a guitar pick (commonplace among famous musicians these days, apparently). Using my honed sense of deduction, I came to the realization that without his pick, he “aint got no soul”.
So please, for Josh’s sake and the sake of all his fans, please award me the tickets so that I may return Josh’s talent to him. After all, if you don’t give them to me, you might as well throw those two tickets in the garbage since his performance will be less than mediocre without his pick!
And if you didn’t believe any of that, then:
Pick me! I love Tapes ‘n Tapes!
April 21, 2008 at 10:14 pmI can’t beat amir’s :’(…I am broke, and have wanted to see you since I put The Loons in my cd player. If you don’t pick me then I guess I’ll just we stuck with this http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=99245921
I LOVE TAPES N’ TAPES
April 21, 2008 at 11:02 pmI stood and stood and stood in the torrential raining rain on Sunday on the Mall for the Green Apple Festival. I got not just soaked, but super-soaked and drenched. My shoes are smellier than any men’s bathroom and my feet have pains like no others. We could get into my back and neck but I’ll spare you.
My friends and I did not get to see Gov’t Mule or the Roots that day and this show would certainly cheer us up.
Thank you.
(I am also penniless)
woah….. amir’s was insane. i can’t compete. but if i got the ticks that would be PREETY cool.
:)

I love tapes n tapes. I love that pitchfork gave them loquacious literary mouth love two years ago, and said “eh” to their new album, just because, hey, it’s pitchfork, and they have to hate the thing they used to love or else they’d be predictable.
I hate me for posting about pitchfork on BYT. I officially suck.
But I still love tapes n tapes.
So please give me tickets.
