i’m in love with juliette lewis. she rocks my world
June 10, 2009 at 3:03 pmWhen I was in Berlin last May I went to a bar recommended by DJ People’s Champion and spent a couple hours drinking beers. Eventually, my lady friend called so I settled up my tab and wandered home, since I hadn’t heard from her in a few days. Cat Power was playing a sold-out show in town that night, but I ended up watching the European Cup match outside a bar somewhere else in the neighborhood. About two hours after I left the first bar apparently Chan came strolling in and I missed out.
So I’d rather not miss out again.
June 10, 2009 at 3:27 pmI kissed Chan Marshall at the Black Cat a couple of years ago after she played at 930. OK, she kissed me, no tongue. Then she told her band to get a bottle of Jack and meet her in the back. Non fiction. Such a hot bitch.
June 10, 2009 at 3:27 pmi used to listen to the pretenders’ “learning to crawl” in my old ford. those were the happiest days of my life.
June 10, 2009 at 3:33 pmI’ve had a crush on Juliette Lewis since 1991. Cape Fear. Great remake. We were the same age. Robert DeNiro as her evil “drama teacher” – “do you mind if I put my arm around your shoulder?” and then it just gets creepier and creepier. Even if Chan Marshall is an amazing musician and the Pretenders will be cool until they die and maybe longer, I will always have my Juliette Lewis creepy crush, and I’ve never seen her in the flesh. Make it happen, BYT, make it happen.
June 10, 2009 at 3:38 pmWell, my first rock n roll love – as in a woman – was Chrissy Hynde. I used to listen to my older sister’s records and stare at the liner notes. That snarl. The cool haircut and tough-girl jeans combined with that domineering attitude prompted the first-ever stirring in my loins.
Then, a few years later — in my college days — Juliette Lewis came along in Natural Born Killers. Again, with the snarl and that sexy “I will eat you alive” – or make you eat me alive – scene on the car hood. Are we detecting a theme here? She could also play the kitten quite well – and in a moment switch back to maneater. Ever see “Strange Days – an underrated movie in which she steals several scenes. Then she switches over to music rockin’ with the Licks and still kicks ass. And again, she’s underrated – except by me, her number one fan.
And now today – as a career man with responsibilities and somewhat more sexual confidence – I listen to Chan Marshall’s ethereal, wistful, and flat-out fucked up balladry and just want to down a bottle or two of red wine – or absinthe – stroke her hair and tell her it will all be ok. So really, I deserve the tickets because these three sublime songstresses have escorted me through most of my life and made me a better man. Or not.
Aw! Sounds like a great time
June 10, 2009 at 4:37 pm…cuz when Chan breaks into Amazing Grace on Metal Heart, I cry tears of joy every effing time!
June 10, 2009 at 4:55 pmIn an effort to counteract the teeny-bopper tendencies of my baby sister, I gave her Cat Power’s The Greatest for her 12th birthday. She listens to it constantly, but was terribly disappointed to learn that Cat Power was not her real name.
June 10, 2009 at 6:01 pmWhere is my love? She is coming to town… August 14th. I would like to be with my love… cross bone style, flying on rockets.
June 10, 2009 at 9:00 pmneed these tickets because i listen to brass in pocket at least twice a day. i saw chrissie hynde checking out at the standard in la. she didn’t know me but i knew her. we made eye contact. Ive been rocking juliette and the licks since like a bolt of lightening and turned masses onto them. in addition she’s got one of the hardest all balls out live show ever.and i shed a tear watching soulful ms marshall’s debut on austin city limits years ago..i can barely type because i can’t believe all three will be together. i’m on a budget. ive never been to the warner.
June 10, 2009 at 10:45 pmWhen I first read this, all I wanted to do was just quote Brass in Pocket shamelessly. I’m special, so special, I gotta have some of your attention. Give it to me. But here you go posting the video. Anyways, the only reason that I couldn’t see Cat Power in February was because I was halfway across the globe in Zambia doing service work with street children (no joke, no joke). Annnd, Mallory Knox is my idol, and naturally that idol cred rubs off on Juliette Lewis.
I gotta have some of your attention; give it to me!
Why me?
Because I would be willing to endure floating in the Dead Sea with massive amounts of cuts all over my body. This I would do after subjecting myself to having sun tan lotion rubbed all over my back by some hairy claw handed man named Mika.
Grotesque, but you gotta do what you gotta do to see CHRISSIE (!).

i love me some chan marshall – give me the gold
