Second Saturdays at the Black Cat backstage are always a good time-all local bands, all the time, no DJs, just the venue and the DC music going back to where they began (and some may argue, belong)
Anyway-this Saturday Midnight Kids (ex Apes + Kalani + Lulu of Thievery) bring their particular disturbingly sassy form of dance music to the backstage (it is their album release too, and you can grab the record for free here) and Casper Bangs joins them with his reassembled heart pop-rock.
Should be a great time.

Anyway, we have a pair of tickets to give away and to enter to win leave us a comment/tip with a band (local or otherwise) you think we should interview/feature/do something on the site with.
We leave the shame of shameless self promotion on you to decide.
Cool?
Cool.
We'll let the winners know Friday by 9 am.

God loves a cheerful giver.
Ok, not local, but British band- Goonies Never Say Die, they are signed to U.S. label, Deep Elm Records. If BYT gets behind them then I'm sure they'll be playing stateside in no time.

Honestly, I think those U.S. Royalties guys could be HUGE if only the press would help them get the word out.
Or The Cheniers.
I run a website about local music called www.unfetteredrecords.com and have been paying close attention to Imperial China from Sockets Records. They really bridge the gap between the '90s post-punk that we grew to love in DC and the current trend of heavy experimentation to form a great new sound. I'm interested in writing a piece on Midnight Kids and would love to score a pair of tickets.
BTW, Imperial China is celebrating the release of their debut album Phosphenes and are currently touring. They're incredibly active and hopefully have a long future.
I second The Cheniers.
you should really interview Casiotone For the Painfully Alone. theyre under tomlab, this really awesome german record company. i think they're actually coming to dc in late april and performing at the black cat. http://www.cftpa.org/
