Last month’s debut installment of Hometown Heroes drew a few hundred folks from all around the Baltimore and DC region in a Petworth neighborhood that seemed unlikely for an all-night throwdown. Myself and the ELM crew are doing it all over again and to celebrate our second installment, we are honored to be joined by the legendary Teddy Douglas of the Basement Boys. Teddy has been a resident at numerous famous local nightclubs between Baltimore and DC including Odells, The Clubhouse and the Paradox to name a few. His production team is renowned worldwide for their innovative approach, which you have probably heard in the influence of numerous contemporary songs (such as the samples from Crystal Waters’ “Gypsy Woman” in T.I.’s“Why You Wanna”). Most recently, he recently teamed up with Margaret Grace to produce Watchu Gonna Do and I am sure he has even bigger things up his sleeves.

Alongside Teddy, Steve Love of Nouveau Riche, Juan of the East Coast Boogiemen, DJ Meistro, DJ Jackie O and myself will be keeping things diverse on both floors. Handzonradio.com will be broadcasting the party live all night.
We are giving away two pairs of guestlist spots to the commentors who can best describe why is house music is good for your health. Youtube song clips to support claims win extra points…
House music is a way of life.

September 17, 2008 at 1:47 pmIt’s good for your health ’cause house DJ’s arent running around popping caps in each other’s asses and picking off random bystanders leaving the club; and it’s the maximum beat allowed by law without a perscription.

that was funny as shit!
House music is like a healthy plate of steamed vegetables: unless you UNDERSTAND that shit is good for your health, you’re not gonna like it. A person who doesn’t like house is akin to a meat-only-Atkins-fool that doesn’t eat his vegetables! House is good for your health because even if you don’t like it (and only like pop or radio shit), and you go to a house party, your ass will automatically start moving and you will begin to dance. This in turn will cause your heartbeat to rise, giving you beneficial aerobic exercise - and that is good for your health, both physically and spiritually. Understand?
September 18, 2008 at 10:05 amSo if you don’t like House music then you can only like pop or radio shit?
That makes no sense.
“And I hate hip hop and I
I hate trip hop and I
I hate punk rock and I
I hate house music
because house music, house music never meant anything at all to me” - Ballboy
because house music doesn’t make my unborn children retarded, unlike dnb.
September 18, 2008 at 11:00 ambecause four-on-the-floor beats the shit out of step-aerobics
September 18, 2008 at 1:11 pmSeeing people dance to house music is like looking directly at their soul. Their movements are a translation from sound, mind to dancefloor. This communion of dancers is such a beautiful thing, how could you ask for anything more?
September 18, 2008 at 3:14 pmI love you Mary!
