Do you miss the Pixies? (that was a trick question)
Anyway, everyone can rejoice because Francis Black has a new project Grand Duchy (the new album is fantastic, as our intern Megan nicely put it: "WAY BETTER than it needs to be") and is coming to DC next week, July 16th, to the Black Cat
Tickets are 15 bucks a pop and totally worth it but we have a pair to give away so let us know in the comments why you love Frank and you could be the lucky winner.
Cool?
GOOOOOOO

God loves a cheerful giver.
His bald head is an eightball into the fortune of gritty and angsty old school punk and rock.
cause i'm white like frank black is.
I actually found out about the Pixies in a roundabout way (first heard his solo stuff around the time that Teenager of the Year came out, which led me to then check out the Pixies stuff), and I've been a big fan ever since. I've actually really enjoyed a lot of his post-Pixies material and I really dig the fact that he is just doing what he loves to do, and not just rehashing old Pixies songs over and over again. I also agree, the new Grand Duchy stuff is excellent, and I'm definitely looking to the show next week.
I love Frank because he's got hips like Cinderella and there were rumors he was into field hockey players!!!!
I dined on my first human clam to Trompe le Monde.
I first CD I ever owned was the Rough Trade release of Surfer Rosa/ Come on Pilgrim. It's out of print and I still have it.
By the way his name is and always will be Black Francis.
I went to a public library by the beach in North Carolina and listened to "Dog In The Sand" for the first time. Among other things. In short, this would rule.
Thank you!
