God loves a cheerful giver.
Wale gets my vote because he's an amazing performer!! i had a chance to see him perform live in Cat's Cradle in NC... and it was crazy because he fused rap and Go Go and brought a whole new music genre for the people to hear. So many of my NC friends who had no appreciation for Go Go music before gained a ultimate love and respect for the movement. Wale along with other upcoming rappers, Drake, Kid Cudi, Sean, Asher Roth [just to name a few] are exactly what hip hop needs to survive. I am definitely down with the movement!
i believe that wale gets my vote because he is an all encompassing rapper, he has lyrics, style and the fun. Whether it be an introspective track like artistic integrity or a jam like one thing about a playa he always brings lyricism and wit. Also there is a strong sense that he raps about stuff that he knows, fucked up relationship with women, sneakers or people hating and thats the good thing about the whole new class is that they rap about stuff they know and do. There are no huge exaggerations when it comes to wale, when he spits something its true and genuine and inspires a lot of niggas to be themselves and not get caught up in the hype ( no pun intended ).
Wale gets my vote for being the first rapper to shout out DC, PG, and Moco (all places I've lived) as well as Ovechkin in a song.
Wale!! gets my vote because he is original with his. Authentic and innovative with the content and flow.
Wale gets my vote cause he's the voice of the people. He's one of the first rappers to give DC and the DMV as a whole a voice. You can tell his style is all authentic and the people from the area can relate. With him on a major scale now hopefully he can bring the DMV style nationwide and let it be known "We Out Chyea!"
He's doing everything the right way, from promotion to musical and lyrical content to his overall attitude on his music/career. Most artists tour to make money; to the best of my knowledge, Wale isn't making money on this current tour, he's on the road for the fans (and to build his fanbase of course).
Wale gets my vote because he said this in a Twitter post he wrote recently:
"Dear Jim Hensons estate, Can u please bring muppet babies back... reruns or anything"
I've never met the man in person, but I feel like we would get along just fine.
Wale gets my vote because he speaks w/ substance...for the most part. Gotta admit, his more recent stuff I haven't been the biggest fan of ("Chillin" in particular just sounds a little off to me...just my .02), but I think his "Mixtape About Nothing" was classic.
He also gets my vote because of the live band element...
Music (for me, at least) is best served w/ real instruments.
Lastly, as a resident of the DC area, he gets my vote for putting us on the map. Though we're the national capital, we aren't really known for our music scene.
Wale gets my vote because the dude is real. He doesn't front on anyone or anything. He spits whatever he wants whenever he wants. If he doesn't give a fuck about you he'll let you know. His swag is pretty impeccable, and he doesn't sell out. I mean he loves remaking some lines like i remain a giant you tiki barber (jeremy shockey) haha but besides that i can't hate on anything in his rap repertoire. this is bigger than the dmv its on some world wide shit now.
Wale is an original voice in hip hop. Not only has he developed a unique story telling lyrical technique, and his analogies are far more relatable than your average MC, his choice of Go-Go beats puts him in an exclusive class of artists. When describing him to people who have not yet been blessed to hear a verse, I call him innovative like Kanye with the lyrical prowess of Black Thought, with a raw African swag. It just sweetens the deal that he's also from the DMV.
Joe E - we aren't really known for our music scene? Really?
hip hop is gay.
Because he is talented, inspiring, and a superstar who keeps it real, WALE GETS MY VOTE.
Wale gets my vote because he represents the DMV and I put on for my city ... and I'm a Wizards fan, so I deserve tickets.
Wale gets my vote because is sooooooo OUTCHEA that he makes me wanna get OUTCHEA and i think thats definitely OUTCHEA!!!!!!!!!!! see you at the show my nucca!!!! 4 sho!
Wale gets my vote because I really like his music and I think the live experience will be dope!!
I havent been home to DC in a long time and I think this will be the perfect occassion. So Im asking real nice like, Can I have the tickets???? Please!
I am voting for whomever is not Wal-e because he inspires his followers to type in unitelligible jibberish.
oh btw...only a TRUE wale fan would understand my comment above
)
@Michael
LOL. My nigga.
Wale gets my vote because he is the Rap Ambassador for the Capital and that sort of diplomatic experience is really indespensible given our precarious national security posture. Also, HE SPIT HOT FIRE!
@Samantha
You forgot to say ftswindle
Wale gets my vote cuz he's a DC star, PG legend, MoCo phenomenon, homez he's all of it. We had a class together in college and he doesn't act brand new when he sees me, he always gives me a hug and is really nice.
Mixtape About Nothing was definately one of the best mixtapes of all time (if you let me tell it). He reps the DMV all day and makes us look great. I bought 5 copies of the XXL with him on the cover (and the rest of the Freshmen 10).
He's got not just a city, but a region on his back and he hasn't buckled yet. Much ♥ to Wale and all the other fans!
http://theiiirdworld.blogspot.com/
Wale gets my vote. I've been on this whole tour, i've seen 35 of shows, and every one was amazing. You got to see Wale, you've got to see UCB.....and that's that.
@Michael:
"unitelligible jibberish"
You don't seem to have a perfect command of the English language either, bud.
And Joe E is absolutely right - DC is NOT known for its music scene. At least not since the days of 90s punk and hardcore. There's a long list of towns that have more vibrant and relevant music scenes than Washington, DC and that have produced more talent - Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, Houston, Austin, Norfolk, the list goes on. Wale will most certainly help put DC on the music map once and for all.
Wale gets my vote because he makes me proud of where I live.
wale gets my vote because...
he's putting the entire DMV (DC/Maryland/Virginia) scene on his back.
he represents a subculture in terms of street wear and shoes.
he doesn't compromise his style.
he has a bigger buzz than most rappers out in the business and he hasn't even dropped an album yet.
he gave us various mixtapes each with its own theme. we haven't even heard back to the feature
i don't know... dude is just cool. down to earth. real person. i mean, check his tweets.
PEACE
Wale: because he undoes the damage done to our city's image by Marion Barry.
Wale gets my vote because he is the only rapper, actually let me rephrase that, the only ARTIST. Who can speak to all people. From the thug dudes to the women to the down to earth real hip hop people. If you come to DC everybody knows Wale because his message is so pure, he aint the type of dude to go dissing other rappers for cred, he holds his own and I respect him for that.
when are tickets going on sale? Is it going to be tomorrow now?
Wale gets my vote because he's so fresh and is reppin' DC sports! Nice local act who's makin' a name for himself!
wale gets my vote cause hes from dc. just breathin this air makes your more politaclly potent and someone as honest and homegrown as this dude knows his stuff. obama eats beans chili bowl, and wale raps about it. fuck secretary of state, Wale gets my vote for Secretary of Da City (dc).
wale gets my vote because his show hits shows hit you harder than ray lewis in the playoffs in his prime after taking a kimbo slice straight right to your temple. I saw him in Richmond and it was the most live show I've ever been to and my first show I went to was glow in the dark tour. Lyrically he is ahead of his class and when you listen to him you feel a sense of fresh air literally. He is my favorite artist out and I wish everyone else could say the same! Straight up, a wale show is the best show you could ever go to and I would give up free season fix to any team just to get my hand on fix to another one of his shows. Any other show... Ftswindle.
wale gets my vote because hes the only black person in dc that still actively refuses to wear vans
@VNL
I think Michael's refering to this comment which basically is jibberish if you don't know the dun lingo. Anyway his comment was funny.
I think you meant 80's p and hc btw
HIPSTER-OFF!!!
ATTENTION:::::Message to the Wale Haters:
@Sexy Fitsum
Like i said any true wale fan or any1 who knows wale would understand my comment as I am positive He (as in wale) would.
The two of you including @sexy fitsum and @michael wouldn't understand my point because frankly you are NOT outchea.
but's its cool lucky for you...not ONLY does wale make GREAT music for the FANS he does it for the HATERS too...you don't gotta listen, you don't gotta see his shows...in fact you can just watch his money grow
PS.
@sexy fitsum + @michael = ftswindlex10
SO on behalf of WALE and everybody else who is OUTCHEA,
"EAT A DICK!!!"
signed,
SINCERELY
samantha you and I are on the same page. I basically said the same thing you did about not getting the language. I'm also a fan. Maybe not Ouchy god degree cypher born 5 percent whatever , but a fan nonetheless so what is this hater nonesense? No one represents hip hop on BYT more than I. Do yr homework. Plus, don't be a psycho: I'm pretty sure Wale doesn't need you behalfin' for him.
@Jason
Samantha - have you ever successfully completed a writing class?
Wale goes on sale
This is fun on big scale
I say go see Wale
Before you get stale.
Some more of what made and makes DC so rad http://bit.ly/h7y77
Because his name Wale and he came to get it? He's cool.
Yah'meanery.
muy interesante
PLEASE NOTE:
@Sexy Fitsum - First off I dont know nothin bout that 5% stuff you getting off into. I was "behalfing" from a fan's/ supporter's point of view. I am NOT a psycho at all. I couldn't tell me and you were on the same page especially with you LOL'ing at @michael's ignorant ass comments.
Which in fact brings me to my next point. Some people outside of the DMV didn't undestand Wale's mix of hip hop and GO GO but good thing everyone is not like you and @michael and are open to new things.
I am from the same "area" as Wale and I am tired of people not giving props or respect when and where it's do. He's made it in one of the hardest and most opiniated cities ever. POINT BLANK PERIOD, so if you or anybody else doesn't understand something about this movement.. keep it truckin...
I initially posted my OUTCHEA comments and references because I wanted a chance to win the tickets. I already had an idea of what people would say about wale. They would state the obvious- he's amazing fresh new talent always suppoting the DMV. So I decided to take a different approach. I didn't need you or @michael commenting on anything I wrote.
Oh and @michael
To answer your question, I did successfully take a writing class. In fact I took it with your mother. She wrote about how she fitted DEEZ NUTS in HER MOUTH....
STUPID TRICKS
Samantha - I think you meant "when and where it's due."
dear god, pls help me understand Wale's "area" that is becoming a hard and opinionated and approachable city. Or help me keep it truckin, whichever one you can sweetly bless me with faster.
BWWAAHAHAHA She said she took it with your mother!
Awesome.
