October 9, 2008 at 2:00 pmThe real problem with that commercial is the acting. When the girl says “It’s so gay” she says it like she is meaning it to be a compliment. So much so that that’s where I thought they were going with it.
Also, there is nothing really wrong with the top, it’s not a realistic situation where someone would use the word gay to mean lame. When a piece of clothing is referred to as gay it usually means it is something a gay person would wear, which could be negative or positive, but again, it’s still using the word correctly. This is unlike the connotation they’re trying to represent, which is like when Kyle on South Park calls the Alabama Man toy gay.
I also thought, the whole time, that the two girls were about to be like “that’s so gay is a compliment’!
