Good morning and happy Friday, everyone! Let's start the day and end the workweek with some well-deserved internetz.
- Have high hopes for you NCAA bracket? Statistically speaking, you'll probably win jack shit.
- But don't fret, you degenerate gambler! Science fails to face the shortcomings of statistics.
- The Pop Culture Translator needs more hip-hop.
- Are you lovin' it even after a year? Good, because like a fine wine, Happy Meals age well.

- Who can remember the last time Chairman Mao was so adorable?
- I guess Australians like their baby showers with an added dose of brutal domestic violence.
- Larry Flynt uncovers secret presidential sex lives. You didn't hear it from him, but Hannah van Buren was a straight-up slut.
- For those who thought they've seen it all, Hot Chip destroys a Boy Band with shiny blue vomit!

- Chatroulette statistics drastically understate user perversity.
- Someone buy me a sweet-ass retro travel poster!
- I wish all opening credit sequences could be this adorable.

In response to the long article about p values, null hypotheses, biases and meta-analyses (that most probably didn't read):
Evidence-based medicine informs medical decision making because using double-blinded randomized control trials (RCTs) is the best tool we currently have. Otherwise, we have nothing to refute Jenny McCarthy warning parents about vaccines, blaming her son's autism on the MMR vaccine and establishing a link between autism and vaccines with her special powers as a mother because she can just feel it.
Yes, it is still true. One must understand the power AND the limits of EBM, statistics and science as a whole. That's why most medical schools teach students how to read, interpret and implement RCTs and the like.
Oh man. Sorry for the geek out. MC^2.
