I saw Jookabox at SXSW after my friend Jon bugged me about them like 250 times.. You got to see these guys dude blah blah blah. What a jerk. But he was right, they are pretty tight. Check out this playlist:

Live they roughen up the edges of their sound to blur the spacey ambient indie tunes more into lo-fi future shock gutter-techno art rock oh fuck it THEY SOUND LIKE BRANIAC OK THEY SOUND LIKE FUCKING BRANIAC WHICH IS AWESOME.

Or maybe like Ween covering Braniac. There's definitely a Saturday Morning Cartoon element to their rock-outs--odd flashy random interjection colors--but if Dan Deacon and Wham City is Animaniacs, Jookabox is more like Sonny The Cuckoo Bird or some other cereal commercial. More predictable, but much more concise and satisfying. Plus they kinda look like Mascots amirite?

See the resemblance? Since these monsters are coming to the Black Cat tomorrow, we thought you deserved a chance to get sweet and trashy.

Therefore, for two tickets to the show TELL US YOUR FAVORITE KID'S CEREAL CHARACTER.

Non-cartoons are acceptable, except no Mikey. Nobody likes Mikey.
