It's also irresponsible to throw snowballs at cars trying to drive through that busy intersection without wiping out. Drivers are really stressed out in this weather.
Also, protestors are such antagonist fools. They care more about expressing their strong opinions and causing a raucous than they do about soldiers.

1. there were no "protestors" there were goofy signs about anarchy. nothing mentioned iraq that is an outright lie by abc.
2. cars were never being targeted, in fact most action ceased when there were cars in the road. if his hummer got hit it was by accident.
3. it wasn't a busy intersection, nobody is driving and there was a foot of snow in the street

Throwing snowballs at cars was a poor choice BUT it is not something that warrants drawing your weapon and NOT identifying yourself as a cop. People called 911 on him because they thought he was just some pissed off guy.
So we have Keystone Kops situation with MPD responding to man with a gun call who turns out to be a detective. This incident ought to help dispel the stereotype of incompetence plaguing MPD.
Don't throw snowballs at people who are not part of your game. Don't throw snowballs at someone who you then realize is a D.C. cop.
