My coworker just got back from the AT&T store, victorious. And his new WHITE iPhone is just so fast and so sleek. iTunes is now totally backed up.
I don’t, but a friend of mine does and gave it to me for free. I didn’t want the extra charges so I gave it to someone else.
I did have an ipod but I never used it and loaned it to a friend who had it stolen in Europe.
July 11, 2008 at 1:30 pmWhy did you never use your ipod?
July 11, 2008 at 1:43 pmNever got around to putting music on it. I also like to hear the symphony of the city when I’m walking around (gag). But seriously, I do like the sounds. I don’t like being isolated from the goings on around me which is why you’ll also rarely see me walk and talk on the phone or walk and text - esp at night - muggers delight.
A few weeks ago waiting outside Georgetown U at night for a friend to go to a movie I was sitting on the sidewalk, when most people would have had an ipod in, I was just listening, and was rewarded because I heard a rustling in the trees then an 8 point buck (that’s a deer, city boy) came out no more than 10 feet behind me and started eating. It was kind of surreal.
July 11, 2008 at 1:51 pmI also have an used/unloved iPod. My portable music playing device of choice remains my Sony portable walkman. I can’t be bothered to maintain a digital music library and using the Walkman affords me the opportunity to pull an album off the shelves and immediately head outside. I’m a luddite like that, I guess.
That said, I do love my iPhone (version 1.0). Just don’t use it for any musical purposes.
July 11, 2008 at 3:18 pmI love’em and want them all…ipods, iphones, digi cam, and soon enough kindle 2.0.
July 11, 2008 at 3:39 pmi refuse to switch cell phone carriers from my little country bumpkin one so i’ll never get an iphone. oh wellz.
July 11, 2008 at 4:02 pmMichael - what about listening to an iPod at work? You like work sounds?
xtianDC - wouldn’t not having to pick out the album (because you have ALL the albums in your hand) let you head outside even more immediately?
July 11, 2008 at 4:05 pmCale - you’ve read my work stories, why on earth would I want to block that out?
July 11, 2008 at 4:22 pmi love my ipod, but i think iphones are silly, not because of what they can do, but because they’re so big. i love my itty-bitty flip-phone, and while it may be passe it fits very nicely in my pockets.
also, michael i believe we’ve had this discussion in person, and i still don’t understnad why you don’t download your music to one so that you don’t have to find all these obscure radio stations from canada. the great thing about ipods is that they become your personal radio station.
July 11, 2008 at 4:37 pm…much like the Truman Show, except they don’t talk to you…yet.
July 11, 2008 at 4:37 pmCale - Theoretically, yes. But the rub lies in the fact that I don’t really want to go through the effort of ripping cd’s, moving files onto my iPod, etc. I just don’t really deal much in the digital domain, I guess. Case in point: when I buy vinyl and redeem the code for mp3’s, I just burn them onto cd’s.
As far as work soundtrack goes, I pull a stack of discs and bring them with me each to play on my computer. It’s antiquated and stupid, but it’s just what I prefer.
