The questionably named but fashionably coiffed ?uestlove, musical director for late night TV shows and legendary rap groups, is DJing at Liv on Saturday.

I presume just with turntables, not on the sticks:
But why Buy Tickets when you can have them for free?
Two fresh piping hot passes to the show goes to the best answer to this here ?uestion: WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE DRUMMER AND WHY?

God loves a cheerful giver.
Animal rights warrior, extreme song-writer and poly-rhythmic Christian Metal drummer extraordinaire Ted Kirkpatrick. Who else could take their knowledge of medicine, love of classical music and passion for the Messiah and all of his creation to such an intense level with cross-genre chart-topping Metal crunchers entitiled Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance, or Gelatinous Tubercles of Purulent Ossification? Oh, and he’s a bad-ass drummer too.
John Bonham - for being absolutely incredible at the drums and unbelievably inventive with seafood. Without him, today we would likely not be blessed with the Mud Shark Arpeggio.
Neil Peart, Rush. Dude learned to play reverse "but-end-out" with his sticks because they always broke when he was a kid; was the primary lyricist for the band; half a dozen time changes during "The Spirit of Radio." Also gave one hell of a rimjob.
A tie between garth and this kid:
Why, that'd be the Godfather of Hip-Hop drummers - Clyde Stubblefield a.k.a. THE Funky Drummer himself!
Tony Williams is my favorite drummer cause he's GOD
Muthaeffin' KATY OTTO!! If you don't know you betta ask somebody DC. She's done more to keep the DIY indie-punk flame alive in this city AND create a space for women artists than all the johnny (and jenny?) come lately's and wannabe rockers infiltrating our borders could ever dream of. She is the truth and can wail on some drums like nobody's business.
i think i can one up the guy who picked clyde stubblefield (though black thought shouts out clyde in one of my favorite roots' songs "stay cool"). my favorite drummer is Joseph Zigaboo Modeliste (he's from THE METERS), because he's funky as a mug and he has an ill name.
Bryan Devendorf of The National. He's the most idiosyncratic drummer since Stewart Copeland and plays like he's plugged into an electrical outlet. Try and imagine any song by The National with a different drummer...
Michael Shrieve drumming with Santana at Woodstock and completely stealing the show as only a 20 year old psychedelic prodigy can!
This is an entry as much as it is me letting everyone know if you aren't all up on Sebastian Thomson from Trans Am you need to be or you need to get the funk out of DC. The man is a cross between a hotwired MPC and Animal from the Muppet Show. Probably the best drummer I've ever seen live.
Chris Bear is sick too though. Keith Moon is immortal. Dave Grohl is obvious but still awesome.
Neal Peart is overrated there I said it.
Elvin Jones - there is no "why"
Well, STA STA STA - as much as I DAMN sure want to win a pair of those tickets - I have to say you may indeed have one-upped me with Modeliste...he's the Truth fo' sho'!
Case in point: J.Z. Modeliste (on the skins) + Rich Harrision (on the boards) + Amerie (on 'dem 'stems') = 2005's hottest Summer Banga - "1 Thing"
uncle jesse while backing up the beach boys
SHEILA E.
For the brains, the brawn, and the beauty. Before her, I never saw a drummer stand and play at the same time. More importantly though, I never saw a female drummer before her.
Questlove of course! Who else could redo "Din Da Da" and it be classic?! Then you gotta love the crispness of his licks as evidenced on all Roots Albums but specifically Things Fall Apart.
Kim, from Matt & Kim, definitely has more fun than most drummers. That being said, this contest lacks fairness in that you're asking readers to suggest their favorite drummer in order to see a hip-hop drummer that's DJ'ing. Maybe change it to favorite musician that also doubles as a DJ, or favorite hip-hop drummer, or just give me the tix.
