Brightest Young Things

Even if BYT staff does not neccessarily care about this apparently the whole District, nay, the world does, so we decided to give you a little run down of The New And Last Harry Potter book comes out tonight activities.
Just in case, you know, you feel like magic.
Or not.

Because, everyone is in on getting a piece of the action:

Politics and Prose take a brief break of hosting everyone from Joyce Carol Oates to John Updike to host a 2 hour bonanza featuring a magician, jugglers, a costume contest, Bertie Bott’s beans (selected flavors only) and delicious treats on sale at the coffeehouse. They’ll pass around Potter trivia questions, and line up by Hogwarts houses, whatever that means.

Old Town Alexandria once again proves that Virginia tends to go all out with any kind of celebration and is hosting a 8 to midnight STREET PARTY. K? Heard that? If you cannot get into Hirshhorn, not all is lost. Merchants up and down King Street in Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia will transform themselves into Potterized businesses: a sweetshop, a care of magical creatures shop, Gringott’s Bank, and more for a night of fun that truly can not be contained in just one venue. There will be live entertainment, costume contests, and much fanfare as the entire town counts down to the release of the final installment of this magical series.

Borders in Silver Spring is hosting our personal favorite Grand Hollows Ball kicking off at 9.30 pm and transforming, ONCE AGAIN, local businesses into Diagon Alley shops and the like.

Barnes and Nobles everywhere will host trivia contests, jelly bean competitions and more.

All events are free, until someone snatches the last book and there are tears everywhere.
Alternately, say fuck it to all, go out to Party Bros or Evil Disco (now, there was a crossover possibility if I ever saw one) and just buy your book in a civilized manner later this week.
