When joining the fray for a big music festival, it's always important to have a game plan -- even if large chunks of it usually get lost in the wash somewhere along the way thanks to LSD or running into a tire slashing redneck.
This weekend several BYTers and at least one lucky reader will be heading up to Baltimore's Pimilco race track for its second Virgin Festival. Here's our game plan for making the most of the two day fest.
Saturday
It's really hot and crowded, stay home

God loves a cheerful giver.
Zing. Cmon, Cale. What about Felix Da Housecat and Bad Brains?
Since I have already stolen this post from DCist, I'm gonna go ahead and steal their comments as well:
To be fair, the Bad Brains have been a very unpredictable live band the past few years or so. And I don't mean unpredictable in the "is HR going to do a backflip off of the speaker cabinets in the middle of How Low Can A Punk Get" way but more in a "is HR going to get all dusted and sing into a Handicam at arm's length while wearing a motorcycle helmet as the band plays nothing but half-assed reggae" sort of way. Sadly, I have passed up the opportunity to see them once or twice and reports indicate that I made the right decision.
Felix Da Housecat?
What is this, Virgin Fest-Party Monster edition?
Has any Virgin Festival been worth even the bother of attending with a free admission...ever?
Exactly.
I went to Farrell's first one long ago - that was enough.
hahahaha! I was expecting actual tips, but these tips are far better. Unfortunately, I have to work Virgin Fest this weekend. Bummed.
A fantastic moment of clarity (..I say without ANY irony.) Thanks. Really.
Farrell organized Lollapalooza, which is actually happening this weekend in Chicago, i attended the last one that had multiple tour dates, one of which was in Cleveland (back in '03 i think) when Jane's Addiction reunited, it was alright, disappointed Morrissey didn't make it, though i more-than-made up for it this month seeing Moz twice
i'll be there at VFest, few acts worth seeing, especially Johnny Marr playing again (it's not The Smiths, but it never will be again), The Police were decent at the Grammy's (even though Sting avoided hitting the high notes in Roxanne), and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (two of which graduated from my alma mater, must support)
Honestly, I would most be interested in seeing Booka Shade and Shout Out Out Out Out, many of the other great bands playing I've seen before. But I had such a miserable time last year, it's just not worth the effort, you don't even feel like you see any bands, it's all about running around, trying to get a good view, checking the schedule, and standing all day.
yeah that's exactly why i stopped going to HFStival
that and the lineup has been sucking year after year
hopefully the VIP tix will be worth it
got a pair, so we'll see
It's supposed to be 96 F on Saturday. Mixed with kids there to see Panic! At the Disco and geezers guzzling bud lights while waiting for The Police to give them cardiac arrest, I think I'll pass.
Thanks for the heads up cale.
