Welcome to part two of our second annual gift guide series (Cale's edition here). We had them all divided into different catagories last year (and those guides are actually still pretty valid, start here and scroll to the bottom of that page for more) but this year we're just doing a few posts with a bunch of different stuff.

Now, I don't really give presents on holidays (that's what the rest of the year is for) but if I did, here is what I would spring for: all pretty, useful and sometimes even pretty AND useful.

What: Brooks Brothers Pajamas
Why: Because you are an adult and it is winter. You don't need a slanket, you need something classy AND classic to lounge in. Plus, nothing is actually cooler than cool men's pajamas. When you think about it. Bonus: if you are a couple, you get to use a piece each, I'll let you decide how to divvy them up.

What: VICE photo book
Why: Because even if you are not a fan of Vice (I myself am often on the fence) they do photography and photo stories better than anyone else in the world. From Goth Jocks to You on Drugs to Tranny Prostitutes in Brazil and Richard Kern-it is all here. If there is one coffee table book to own-this is it.

What: Lee Pace Starter Set (DVDs of "The Fall", "Miss Pettigrew Lives for A Day", first season of "Pushing Daisies" and the whole series of "Wonderfalls")
Why: This does not actually come in a box, though it should. I have a casually creepy stalking love of Lee Pace fueled equal parts by his dimples and his ability to seriously pick out the coolest projects to star in (I wax lyrical about "Wonderfalls" here and even Michael's hard heart succumbs to "The Fall" here)

What: Rhodia Pad No. 38
Why: Because sketch pads make me insanely happy, and this extra large, extra iconic, all sustainable one is the bees knees.

What: Nerve's Guide to Sex Etiquette
Why: Because it is HILARIOUS. I am really not a fan of "guide" anythings but this book is one of the funniest, truest things I've ever laid my eyes on (ie: "A civilized lady or gentleman always has a guest toothbrush handy, still in its packaging, just in case a guest requests one. However, only vulgarians keep an entire drawer of them for guests to "pick their favorite color." ).

What: A Holder for One Thing
Why: Because your home is better than any museum. Designed to be hung indoors, Amy Adams' container holds something precious. You get to provide that something. A beautiful idea.

What: DL&Co Black Skull Candle
Why: Well, it is a candle, shaped like a black skull and it is expensive and I really don't recommend you ever light it but it is so goddamn beautiful that it belongs in a museum. And since your home is better than any museum (see above) it definitely belongs in your home. I'd buy this for everyone I know if I could.

What: Laptop Sleeve that looks like a Shirt!
Why: Because you don't want to carry your laptop around in any old, boring bag, do you?

Why: Do you really need a reason to send someone a 30 pound box of lollipops? If you do, we can't be friends.
