Saturday morning, I happened across four Swedes wandering around the Apple store (I have a discerning eye for European males). Long story short, they ended up being The Field (Axel, Dan, Andreas, and Victor) on their US tour. Being the friendly guys that they are, they invited me to their show at the Black Cat. And in return, I told them where to find discount flip-flops.
Even though the lighting was really dark for their show at the Black Cat, I managed to get a few photos of electronics and flip-flops:
After the show Saturday night, the request from The Field seemed simple enough: a quiet Sunday picnic near the monuments and a quick stop by Target. After gathering some brunch materials, we made our way towards the Mall. With a constant stream of Memorial Day motorcycles circling The Washington Monument, the picnic was anything but quiet. Nonetheless, a small box of nuts proved to please and quickly became the picnic favorite. It was then that the band’s love for English wordplay became apparent....apparently they are nuts for nuts.
A quick photo op near the base of the monument and it was off to Target in search of a rooftop cargo box...or as we liked to call it, the hooker box/prosi box. Having no luck, what seemed like a simple task at first had become a daylong quest. Stopping in Tenleytown, a hopeless, lackadaisical sales associate stated that he had the box but couldn’t seem to locate it. Another twenty minute search revealed he had found the cargo box but did not have the necessary attachments. Trekking onward to a larger store location in Rockville, the band’s initial apprehension towards U-turns had been abandoned. Finally locating all of the missing pieces and an energetic store crew willing to stick around after closing, the journey was deemed a success.
After spending an entire day with our new Swedish friends, we gave them a heartfelt sendoff to their next tour destination, Atlanta, and they gave us Field t-shirts and Andreas' new CD from his band, Ass. Hopefully, we will even get to make it up to their show in NYC in June. All in all, Swedish people are superior and make damn good music.

God loves a cheerful giver.

I stopped reading after "where to find discount flip-flops". My hatred for this foot wear runs very deep. schlup-schlup-slurf.
those black flag bars only increased my love for these guys
Flip-flops nothing like prostiboots. Or the platforms. Those are simply obvious.
I like a few of their songs, but I wasn't a huge fan of their show. This write-up, however, is really fun. I'd much rather get a sense of who these people are than hear some high-minded critique of their music. Maybe put in a quote or two next time.
Are all Swedes as cute? I'm moving.
