__ ________________ The highlight of my weekend was swinging by Civilian Art Projects on Sat night to dance to some wonderful offbeat disco from the Velodrome DJ's, drink $3 could-have-been-colder PBR, check out the gallery, and experience DC's latest little buzz band True Womanhood. If you haven't already, do yourself a favor and read/listen to Rick's excellent interview/listening party that we ran last week. When I walked in I told Rick to settle down and stop hyping these guys up otherwise they'll never live up to my jaded-heard-everything-before-getting-old-rock-curmudgeon attitude. Well, turns out there was no need, the band delivered. It was a perfect mix of noise and melody. Plus the added bonus of their complete and utter adorableness. It took a lot of effort not to run on stage and bear hug all of them. Also their EP packaging was some of the most creative I've seen in a while, I'll be sending it over to John Foster for a proper review. Maybe they'll let me sit in next time on mini keychain harmonica...

Actually - any band that has a BYT sticker on their equipment is ok in our book.

If you missed True Womanhood on Saturday (sometimes you can't help it, but you better have had a good reason), they're playing again this Friday (the 26th?) at Velvet Lounge as part of their Wall of Soundfest DC. Check it, young folks.

Ellen Page, Pink shirt, Green shirt, and Red shirt should be taken out to the back yard and done to what was done to Old Yeller for being too adorable.
