When I heard Travis was coming to the 9:30 Club last Thursday, the high school girl in me swooned a little bit. And I was delighted to see that tons of other DCers are still loyal followers of the band as well. Frontman, Fran Healy's stage presence is awe inspiring, but then at the same time he also seems quite down to earth, talking about jumping on the bed while iChatting with his 3 year old son and actually stepping down into the audience for a full song. Healy's melodious voice had the entire audience swaying back and forth to some older songs, like Writing to Reach You and some newer songs, like Chinese Blues. Provoking any movement out of a DC audience is a feat in itself.
The band wrapped up the concert with an acoustic sing-along to Flowers in the Window. Despite the fact that my camera strap broke after the third song and my camera went crashing to the ground, I left the 9:30 Club feeling all warm on the inside.

Provoking any movement out of a DC is audience is a feat in itself.
i mean, DC audiences haven't been like that for at least 6 years. DC is way more rocking crowd then a lot of other cities.
Otherwise though, love it.

Martin- Maybe it's just the shows I've been photographing lately? I'm glad to hear that other people aren't having that experience! This summer will surely bring some more rocking shows.
Francis- I'm waiting on Canon for the estimate. Might just have to upgrade cameras.... By the way, nice job with Bowerbirds!
