I did not go to the show (i would have loved to), but a NUMBER of people I know did and this email I got proves that while genius, PJ is either your thing or she isn't your thing.
Svet, I guess we didn’t tell you how frightening the show was. SO SCARY. PJ Harvey is insane and was barefoot dancing like a cult member the whole time, not to mention she was wearing a purse. And she sang songs about (in this order), Jesus “save me”, drowning babies, chicken liver hearts (this song also including the line stick IT up the ass – god know what IT is, and something about baby bumble bees), and then the last song just had one verse, I DON’T WANT, I DON’T WANT, I DON’T WANT, and then she would bark like a dog for the chorus.
ANYWAY, LET US KNOW HOW IT WAS FOR YOU

had a great time at the show. this was not a PJ Harvey show, it was a PJ Harvey/John Parish show. the way they work is John Parish makes complete songs, gives them to PJ, she comes up with vocals for them. the music is very different then her own albums, and she basically comes up with very different vocals too, and is wayyyyyyy more theatrical. most of the songs are sort of character pieces and way more in your face... its just a different sort of thing then a normal pj harvey show. FYI for anyone who didnt know what to expect.
also the lyric is "stick it up your ass" not "stick it up the ass", i think... "you" being the dude the song is about...

the show was a little weird, but entertaining. pj harvey definitely has had her share of white blotter and maybe still keeps a bag of 'shrooms in that purse she seems to need to keep close like linus' blanket, but the girl still has a voice. i think the band was very good at doing exactly what they set out to do, though it may not have suited the taste of many of the people who were expecting them to bust into "dress" at any moment. they were very tight and very in synch with each other. and very weird. i liked it.
she is smoke'n hot!!!
i would really like to see PJ again performing her own material again, but this was awesome. i wish i had seen her on the tour for 'white chalk', that is an amazing record and highly recommended by me...
