Mini-show review with pics by Bao Nguyen.
Late start on a school night for no apparent reason except that it was raining like a whore. About 50 people in attendance. Kitchen was closed due to only 20 presales but I was really hungry.
Dragons of Zynth were too loud. They had cool outfits. They get an A for effort. I had never heard them before and wasn’t really into it, but maybe they’re a grower.
Yeasayer was a little sloppy this time, but once they hit 2080 (song three of seven) everything gelled. They killed it on the Waiting for Summer finale but ignored the cries for one more song. Sunrise would have been nice.
Celebration was poorly mixed, but man does that girl have some pipes. I had seen them twice before and it was getting late so I bailed.
Overall, lot’s of potential, somewhat poor execution.
We were oddly denied taking pics of Yeasayer backstage, perhaps they wanted to keep up the mystique that they were performing some sort of séance to summon the unicorn spirits when in actuality they were just eating pizza. Oh well.
DURKL pretends to turn 21 at midnight.
