Amidst the “ghosts and goblins” that were running amok in the district on Saturday night (as many of you probably know) The New Pornographers also took the stage at the 9:30 Club.
What can you say about The New Pornographers that has not already been said? They make toe tapping, fun loving indie pop/rock. So, on Saturday they took the stage (yes...with Neko Case) to a sold out crowd...and they proceeded to play an awesome mix of songs from their latest release called “Challengers” along with some classics from their previous albums sprinkled throughout the set.
The thing that I like the most about seeing The New Pornographers is that they’re such a no nonsense sort of band...they don’t wear fancy or “hip” outfits...they just get on stage and chat with the crowd in a candid manner that makes you feel like they just might invite you over to their apartment for a bbq and beers as soon as they finish their tour.
That’s what’s so great...they don’t need any of the bells and whistles...they just play great music that puts a smile on your face...and there were a lot of smiles as the crowd filed out of the club.
Suffice to say...it was definitely a “treat” to have the New Pornos in the district on Halloween weekend!
