Launched in January and led by Mat Whittington -- formerly of ESL Music -- National Geographic's record label works with dozens of artists. The first band to sign with the label, Forro in the Dark, came to National Geographic's headquarters on Saturday night for a spirited show. Brazilian ex-pats living in New York City, the band's fast-paced forro might be better suited for a club or carnaval parade than Geographic's staid auditorium, but that didn't stop members of the audience from filling the theater's side aisles to dance. Forro in the Dark's upcoming release features contributions from David Bryne and Sabina Sciubba of Brazilian Girls.
