A Monotonix show is a furious blur of bare chests, upper thighs, and buttcracks- all covered in a thick black hair.

Singer Ami Shalev sounds and looks like a young Albert Einstein lecturing totally tripped out on Acid. Following Shalev's lead, Monotonix took over Rock & Roll Hotel like a roaming band of gypsies- setting up camp on the bar, merch table, in the middle of the floor. Overall pretty standard for them- I was disappointed that the show didn't end up in the street like last time they played at DC9. But hey- it was a Tuesday. That said, the kids totally packed the venue for a week night on H Street.

Highlights:

• Ami Shalev making Mike Danko take up close shots of his butt crack

• An Amish woman in the crowd

• Some girl getting dry humped on stage like she was this ottoman

Oh also! The opening band Turbo Fruits was soooo good- not that their name would give you any indication of that. They ended their set with a cover of The Undertones "Teenage Kicks" which is an automatic win in my book. I also spilled my drink all over their section of the merch table- sorry.
