Brightest Young Things

After moving to DC in 2002- I just now went to my first show at Iota. Who got me to forge the river? The Love Language who happened to be playing with the Headlights. Since I am about to get in trouble for BYTing too much at work today (that's what happens when your BYT boss is also your Day Job boss) I am keeping it short.

The Love Language:

Breakdown

+ The acoustic guitar player was wearing a really cool shark tooth necklace.

+ there are two really hot girls in the Love Language

+ a drunk guy kept trying to buy the two hot girls in the band drink during the show

+ put on a rowdy cover of "Hello Mary Lou"

+ they told me that a woman named Svetlana once conned by boyfriend out of half a grand in a real estate transaction.

I'd give the show a 7/10

It was nice to see the Love Language in a more quiet and focused environment- compared to the BYT Inauguration party. That said, it  sucks when your favorite sing-along band comes to play on a Tuesday night across the river.

Headlights.

Breakdown

+ The singer had Patti Millionaire Matchmaker hair (and I LOVE PATTI)

+ The bass player was from Milwaukee

+ There was an accordion involved

+ The guitarist and singer had awkward stage banter, but not awkward enough to be entertaining

+ They were really boring

I'd give their live show a 4/10

Headlight's recordings (tailor made for a Dawson's Creek Reunion Soundtrack) are fun and adorable but the bands fails to capture that preciousness in any meaningful way. Maybe it was because it was a Tuesday.
