So, sure it was more of a "America The Beautiful" than "Beyonce sings her hits" type of an affair and chances are you probably could not get anywhere near the stage (neither can Irfan) but for that one afternoon you and the mall felt as one.
Here are some (absolutely beautiful) photos Irfan took of what went down on Sunday:

God loves a cheerful giver.

holding up signs at a concert or rally is like posting comments on the innernet. i get it, you have opinions.
nice photos by the way.

"agreed, nice photos"
beautiful job irfan
clearly, the highlight was john cougar mellencamp, particularly the part where abraham lincolns statute came to life, walked out and did a guitar solo while jesus played the drums. i also like the part where JCM fly away on a winged mastadon after his set.
Great shots, Irfan!
Sorry to see the Fred Phelps crazies were around.
Just ignore the Phelps crew and they'll go away. They just want attention.
Thanks everyone! By the way, I thought it was awesome how the firemen were taking photos of the crowds (both toward monument and lincoln memorial) for folks handing them their cameras.
I'll have photos of the Inauguration to BYT soon. It was really difficult getting any good photos but was able to schmooze my way up on the CBS platform (about one story high).
@Cale - You're right. There were people there laughing at them and then those that were arguing with them. Of course the latter is never ending. It was entertaining nevertheless.
It was very wrong of the Phelps people to demonstrate so. They criticize what they don't understand.
