DC Take Note: While our city is starved for new/smaller concert venues, and there are DIY outcries everywhere, Monday night Health, Yip Yip, Pre, and Crime Novels played the Civilian Art Projects on 7th & D.
This was the first and possibly last concert held there.
The performance was not advertised well and it showed.
All bands involved still brought serious energy- including hugs, floor dives and erratic dancing.
Everyone present was pleased and it is disappointing to think this may not happen again.

The crowd was half this size at Civilian, but 3,229 times as intense.
October 24, 2007 at 1:22 pmHi, I’m glad the 12 people who showed up showed up and paid. And I’m grateful for the crew who helped promote this. But this is food for thought to anyone who books shows in DC:
1) Mondays are tough. Not even my close friends who love to rock came out. And people who said they were coming, didn’t.
2) There are a lot of costs associated with this. I ended up losing close to $200. And as I do not get paid to run Civilian and do it out of a love for art and artists, I can’t afford to lose money on shows. Period. I can’t even afford shampoo. Did you notice?
3) We promoted this the same places that would have gotten us 200 folks on a Friday night, or even a Tuesday. For some reason, Monday just blows.
So, lessons learned:
1) No mondays.
2) No more lose money when don’t have any.
I’m glad you all enjoyed the show. The bands did too. I know bands who have eaten it on Mondays before and its a shame that DC didn’t bring it out more for this amazing line up but don’t shoot the person on who’s back shouldered a mega-load.
Peace,
Jayme

Ryan does not lie. All the bands freaked out hard, in the best possible way. Between this show and Shout Out Out Out last week, DC has been sleeping on some major shit. Next time any of these guys come back, go see ‘em!
