Typefighter
For any up and coming band popping their Black Cat cherry most would expect them to get cold feet and lose their composure. Typefighter experienced something similar only it died off after the their third song. After an intensive week in upstate NY spending long hours in the studio coupled with back to back shows they came back to DC with a slightly new approach to their set. They seem to have emphasize the drums section and pushed the vocals a little more. As Cale put it earlier “…they sounded really promising…”. And this is exactly what their are doing. One can only hope they will follow up with more performances in the area to grow a stronger following.

Black & White Jacksons
Up next were the Black & White Jacksons. Their name made me chuckle and I wasn’t really disappointed with what I saw. Clearly they have been doing this for a while because I sensed no hesitation when they took the stage with a WYSIWYG attitude. You could practically stand at end of the stage and get a different take on them depending on which band member you were facing. At one point I thought I was listening to a band covering a few song by The Bronx when I took a closer look at the dude on geets. This shift in pace got the crowd warmed up when a few gents started their convulsion dance / mosh pit. They didn’t change it up much. But what they did they did well.

Exit Clov
By the time Exit Clov got rev’d up I had already downed a few Red Stripes (not my favorite) and I was ready to dance it up. It wasn’t long until the dance party kicked up into full gear. Just about everybody had a drink their hand and were moving their bodies anticipating the next tune. Now on the road heading up to Brooklyn other cities will get to experience a dynamic set ranging from from a slow indie rock tunes to dance party jams with beautiful vocals. Can’t wait to catch them again.

i thought b/w jacksons played a great set. the energy was great, and it’ll be sad to not have them in the scene anymore.

bwjs were better than that first band thats for sure, what a buzz kill! did the bands hire an interprative dancer that night too? talking about that annoying guy having a seizure out on the dance floor, i want whatever he was on.

exit clov is just too funky, hopefully they can get chuck brown to open up next time they play.
