…
I had never been to the Darlington House before. Which is surprising, because it’s definitely been on my radar for quite some time now. But U.S. Royalty was playing the Darlington House last Thursday night, and on account of them being good friends of BYT, and the fact that they’re a tremendous force on the DC indie-rock scene, it was an occasion not to be missed.
Playing some new material and some old, the ambiance of the Darlington House made for pleasant environment both to witness and photograph a show. The light and the sound we both a bit bright, but given the intimate nature of the Darlington House, it didn’t quite feel like they were playing a venue, rather it seemed almost more like a house party show. And in that way it was brilliant.
Matt Hemerlein joined the band for a couple of songs, including a cover or two. Employing his skills on the violin, it was a welcome addition to the set. Darlington House proved an excellent venue on Thursday night with USR hosting. It should be a nice place to catch more local acts getting down… streetlights and disco ball make for interesting images, see for yourself.

And some shots from the lovely Shauna:
