Tonight (3/21/09), 9:30 Club, Blisspop with Miami Horror + Will Eastman.
Last time Miami Horror was here we ran this quick interview, check it out:
The song Don't Be On With Her, attributed to the aptly named Miami Horror, started appearing on blogs about a year ago. Here, listen and love:
Then came a bunch of Miami Horror remixes in the same style. It's all sort of mysterious but we think it goes like this - Miami Horror is the name for Australian musician/DJ/producer Ben Plant. Although the final incarnation of Miami Horror may include other members and be more of a band, he still tours as a DJ under that name. Tomorrow, June 28th, he'll be swinging by Nouveau Riche along with Gameboy/Gamegirl, whom he produces. His email access was spotty over the last few days so we never really got to finish this interview. But when you make remixes this great, we'll forgive you:

BYT: Hey Ben, what are you doing right now besides answering this email? (be specific)
BP: Making a new demo while on the road, along with finishing off the presets remix...
BYT: What is your DJ setup?
BP: Normally I use 3 cdjs if I can get them, you can do a lot fast, sometimes incorporate a keyboard and laptop to make a semi live performance.
BYT: Is Bravado (the first full length from Miami Horror) going to be new tracks or a collection of old stuff? Originals/remixes?
BP: Bravado is all new unreleased tracks besides the two final versions of Don't Be On With Her (w/ lyrics) and Summerfest 86. (listen here)

BYT: What's the best track you've heard all year?
BP: I suppose the twelves remix of Black Kids - Don't Wanna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance With You, although Dj Gorky pointed out how the start of the riff is the same as Summerfest.
BYT: What the hell is TIGRTRON?
BP: There honesty isn't such a thing.
BYT: Where do you do your online clothes shopping?
BP: Usually only buy clothes from vintage stores, nothing online...
BYT: What music blogs do you read on a regular basis?
BP: I generally keep up with the usual blogs that I started with back in the day... Discodust, Big Stereo, Palms Out; some other blogs are becoming way too critical for my liking.
BYT: Is this your first time in DC? Going to do any site seeing?
BP: We are going to visit the Grand Masonic Lodge and that is probably all.
BYT: Silly.
God loves a cheerful giver.
What's the age minimum for this show?
i think its 27
Haha, unfortunately that's useless. Does anyone *actually* know?
Hey Liz, I believe that because it's at Spank/1223 now, it's 21+. Sorry 'bout that. But when Five re-opens (under a new name, I'm pretty sure), it will again be 18+.
Aw shucks. Thanks for the info anyway!
