As even the toddlers in DC know: one of the best things about living here is the ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AMOUNT OF MUSEUMS AT YOUR VERY FINGERTIPS.
Most are free to boot, and since it is winter, most are no longer (rejoice!) overwhelmed by the tourists.
Which means it is time to continue developing that museum crush of yours full time.
Now, Cultural Tourism DC (a super smashing DC non-for-profit site that lists all things arty in the district, which I regularly troll when making our weekly calendar) is here to help:
Everyone put their hands together for : Warming up to A Museum a series of lectures, films, gallery tours and more, that have been specially designed to make you better acquainted with what your fair city’s museums (over 19 institutions are participating) have to offer.
It all starts tomorrow (February 1st) and lasts all month (February 29th)
What is not to like?
The answer is: not much
A casual sampling of things to run (not walk) to only this week includes:
Special Exhibit: Frogs! A Chorus of Colors

Why not kiss a frog this Valentine’s Day? Hop on over to the National Geographic Museum for Frogs! A Chorus of Colors and cozy up to live frogs from around the world. An exhibition of photographs, Face to Face with Frogs by Mark W. Moffett, accompanies the live exhibit.
Guided Tour - Forged in Fire: Wrought Iron at Washington National Cathedral
(don’t laugh, I seriously am a huge wrought iron fan, even the simplest of balcony designs make me quiver, let alone this bonanza)

Created in forges heated to 2,400 degrees, some of the world’s most beautiful wrought iron artwork is located in the National Cathedral. Gates, grilles, crosses, vases, candlesticks, and handrails are all a part of exploring the magic of wrought iron. Come to this “close up” tour of the artistry that adds spice to a building.
