It is a good season for DC bands.
Army of Me is on tour with their brand spanking new Atlantic records album, Le Loup got signed straight out of the door to SubPop and as of a day or two a go Georgie James (featuring Laura Burhenn, and ex-Q and Not U John Davis, and also the first show BYT ever covered, before they toured with Camera Obscura and played every imaginable festival in this godforsaken country. See photos here) got signed to Saddle Creek Records.
Home to Maria Taylor, Bright Eyes, and The Faint, the Omaha based label will publish Georgie James' "Places" this fall (the bands "Demos from Dance Place" 7 song EP is still available wherever they play). We vote for "Hard Feelings" as the first single.
In Laura's own words:
(whom we cornered this morning somewhere between thrill and exhilaration)
"I am ELATED. You have no idea. Although at the moment it doesn't feel quite real. It's just a glorious dream. And even when we have our album out and we're doing our fall world tour, I probably still won't believe it. It's probably better that way. This is, after all, another starting point. There's still so much work ahead of us.."
all we can add is: Congratulations, just never leave us for Nebraska.
