There are rats jumping into baby carriages in Dupont Circle, the metro has been collapsing over the last week before our very eyes, education is in more or less shambles…and what is the DC administration doing?
Surfing porn. It seems.
God bless them all.
NBC4 cracked the story (though City Paper nobly noted “the very promising press conference” first) and according to it:
“Nine employees from a total of four District agencies will be fired (by Fenty) after an investigation found that pornography Web sites were accessed from their work computers, News4’s Tom Sherwood reported.
Investigators said each employee had at least 20,000 hits on pornographic Web sites during the 2007 calendar year, or about 200 hits per work day, Sherwood reported. One employee had more than 48,000 hits.
(basic math tells us this averages 200+ visits a work day. I mean, with all that spare time, they could have started a nightlife website, or something-ed)
Thirty-two other employees from about a dozen other agencies face a variety of disciplinary actions, including two-week suspensions and possible termination, after their computers were found to have at least 2,000 porn Web site hits.”
My reaction to this is:
-and most employees block myspace and flickr and youtube? but somehow 2000 porn site go unnoticed until now?
-and on that note, how do we know they were not just shopping at American apparel?
-was this a “porn club” of sorts, or were they all just doing their own thing?
-were they just looking or were they touching (themselves)?
and finally…
-is it really worse to go 200 times a day to say, fleshbot, than it is to go 200 times a day, to say, perez hilton?
lets just think about this for a moment here.
love to all.
my boss thinks might think that byt is porn. i guess it makes sense when it causes ego masturbation.
January 24, 2008 at 10:06 amif you’re stupid enough to get caught, you deserve it
don’t do that crap on company time
get your laptop out and find free wireless
and always clear private data at work after every session
come on, people
this is like the 101 of using the interwebs
Erasing your cache of visited web sites or clearing the private data (Firefox) doesn’t erase your activity from your employer’s servers.
You can clear your history, cache, take out your harddrive and throw it in the Anacostia after smashing it with a hammer and running it thorugh a shredder and all they have to do is check your history on the server.
