PHOTOS: FUNK THE WAR

October 9, 2009 by BYT at large

all STUNNING photos: Yacouba Tanou and Priscilla De Lima
brief words:Priscilla

BYT, never one to miss a chance to document: a. a good cause, b. anything with a chance for public nudity, and c. anything with a chance for police brutality, arrived at Thomas Circle around 3:30 PM yesterday where the Students for a Democratic Society were meeting up to start their dance march against war in Afghanistan. Everybody was chillin‘ while the beats were playing from a mobile DJ system.

And then the march and dancing started….  with, we hate to admit it, very few protesters actually dancing, very little police BS and absolutely no nudity!

What happened to revolution?I guess it simmered down over the years (this Wednesday marked the 8th year anniversary of the occupation of Afghanistan-ed).
Still- It really felt good being there dancing for a cause and snapping shots.
These peeps and their supporters are beautiful & respectable folks from my observation.
I also really dig electronica/dance music.

HERE IS WHAT DIGITALLY TRANSPIRED:

Just got a little depressed thinking some of these kids were 10 or 11 when we were first protesting these wars.

i applaud the young man with the gas mask. he is taking a proactive stance against this swine flu epidemic; smart move by the looks of many of his compatriots, who look like they carry any number of diseases.
