Pantless Coverage. Not By Us.

Pantless Coverage. Not By Us.

January 14, 2008 by Svetlana

While we certainly caught a disproportionate amount of flack when we mentioned the planned” pantless metro ride, and spent the better part of last week defending your right to drop trow, somehow, we managed not to attend.
We were to busy attending weddings, playing bridge, watching foreign Oscar contender movies and catching up on our reading.
Most of these things we in fact did pantless, but we did not take the metro.
But fear not, someone else did.

(I hear you scream: Whaaaat, I thought BYT is the only publication in DC that would condone such activities?. Well, no.)

So, to see how it all went, click on this rather charming photos and check out what DCist had to say about the whole deal.

click click for below and more:The gender mix appeared to be about equal among the leg-barers, and there was a surprising range of ages. As for underwear fashion, for the guys, boxer briefs seemed to outnumber regular boxers, while the ladies displayed a good mix of styles. No thongs were spotted, and no arrests were reported……

apparently it all went by in a civilized manner.
probably because we weren’t there.

I ended up having explosive diarrhea that morning and felt like a single layer of clothing was not quite sufficient.

Goddamnit. First Cale did it and I made a subtle correction in my post. Now you did it.

Drop TROU. With a U, not a W. It’s short for trousers, not trowsers.

Actually, after Cale’s post last week I thought “trow” was incorrect and “trou” was.
Then I looked it up.
BOTH SPELLINGS ARE CORRECT.

Sort of like saying “money” and “monies” which drives me bananas every time.

Michael Says:

Looked it up where, hmmm?

It’s not in the dictionary under trow. It is in the dictionary under trou.

And no, the urban dictionary doesn’t count.

Michael Says:

Did you see those people?

And nothing about our exchange is nasty. Right Svet?

Svetlana Says:

I am never ever nasty.

I actually spent some time before the first post trying to figure out the proper spelling, I think some of the confusion is that “trow” is often used to mean “trou” and that drop trow used to mean drop trowel. Regardless, on this post it originally said “drop troguzhdn” or something cause Svet doesn’t really speak English very well and I changed it to the original spelling. I hadn’t seen your note on the other post for some reason.
