Brightest Young Things

Prep your elbows. From DCist:

Holy shit, the Flaming Lips are playing the National Mall this Sunday! Not even kidding! You will not be rickrolled if you visit the Web site for the Green Apple Festival, for which actors, performers, activists, musical acts, and the Flaming Lips will assemble for an Earth Day celebration on Sunday.

Emceed by actor and comedian Chevy Chase, the event will feature performances by DJ Spooky, Los Lobos, and moe., who will be joined by some local acts: the Howard University Drummers and the Joy of Motion Dance Center’s Urban Impact. Kathleen Rogers (President, Earth Day Network); Gene Karpinksi (President, League of Conservation Voters); Amy Vedder (Senior Vice President, Wilderness Society); actor Matthew Modine; and U.S. Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass) will all be on hand to talk about the Earth.

Festivities begin at noon. There is no schedule posted for the performances.

THE END.
