On April 30th, a fire took the 134 years old Eastern Market down, a unique place that was the heart and the soul of its Capitol Hill neighbourhood, and the only proper market this city has to offer.
The rebuilding efforts will take time and money
and
you should take your time and money to help.
Because, well, it's MORE than worth it:
Things to do:
Keep up in rebuilding efforts here:http://www.saveeasternmarket.org/
Purchase a "rebuild eastern market" tee here: http://www.rebuildeasternmarket.net/
Make a (fully tax deductible, if you care about that kind of stuff) contribution here: http://www.capitolhillcommunityfoundation.org/
Participate in the May 8th (Tuesday) Eastern Market bar and restaurant held fundraiser. More details here: http://www.easternmarketrescue.com/
or
just keep your eyes and ears open and show support whenever the chance arises.
That is all.
