Big DC band news: Today NoVa’s own The Friday Night Boys announced that they have signed with Fueled By Ramen (Fallout Boy, Paramore, Panic at the Disco, Phantom Planet, etc., etc.).
I remember one time playing Friday Night Boys on myspace for a friend who was all like, “please stop playing this, because I’m starting to really like it, and I’m not sure if it’s okay that I really like it…” and another who was all like, “I cant stop listening to Friday Night Boys. I feel totally gay, but they’re totally fucking catchy.”
These bros also have a preposterous fan base made up almost entirely of 16 year old scene chicks. I guess that’s what happens when members of turn of the century hard touring, hard working emo bands like Aberdein (Negative Progression Records), The Spotlight (Eulogy Records/Emerald Moon Records), and Pictures in Pieces start writing undeniably catchy pop songs that sound like Ashley Simpson meets Ashley Parker Angel with over the top guitar solos and massive, indiscriminate use of autotune.
A few of the ‘Boys were at the BYT/Rock and Roll Hotel Anniversary party getting awesome & pounding PBR, so I’m pretty sure they aren’t all that wholesome.
I’m mostly pumped because this increases my chances of seeing Ashley Simpson-Wentz at the next Garutachi Underwear Party. I’m totally trying to put some dents in her baby’s head.
