Its taken a severe addiction to lure a large group of hipster gays to the uber-gay danceclub Town this Saturday night. But, Crack can make someone do crazy things. Just ask Whitney Houston.

Since 2005, the roughly twice-yearly Crack cabaret comedy show sold-out its previous venue of the DC9. After the last performance had to turn away more than half of the fans who showed up to see it, the organizers started looking for a larger venue. They settled on Town, the gay club just up the street from the DC9. Although the gays who turn out for Crack aren't exactly the gay megaclub type, organizers assure that the production will make it a welcoming experience for anyone who shows up.

"We're not changing our formula, aesthetic, sophomoric humor, or production value. It's still low budget, messy and edgy. We just have more room to do it in," says Crack co-producer Shea Van Horn, who hosts the event as his drag persona Summer Camp. "Its really important that we stick to what we like and what we know."

Van Horn, Chris Farris and Karl Jones produce the rowdy show that has witnessed audience members literally falling out of their chairs in laughter. The cabaret features 10 comedy skits, short films and audience interaction during games and breaks. Imagine "The State" with more nudity.

Editorial Note: This only happens about twice a year, and the production is hilarious. So, go, go go!

Crack not only provides its producers with an outlet to perform, it cultivates new talent among its audience members. Many of the Crack performers are former members of the audience who decided that they wanted to be a part of the show. Crack actively encourages submissions from individuals who have never performed before an audience. The result is a hilarious and remarkably polished production.

Doors for the 10:00pm show open at 9:00pm, and the ticket cost of $8.00 not only includes admission to the Crack performance itself, but to the danceclub afterwards.

Brightest Young Things will be partnering with Crack this Saturday to operate an irreverent photobooth that audience members can utilize in the hour before the show actually starts. We won't give away the surprise concept, but the night is space-themed (Crack: Journey to Uranus) so let your imagination run with it.

The organizers note that just because the event is being held at the gay club Town, straight men shouldn't stay away. "Anyone will have fun," says Van Horn. In fact, the organizers point out that much of their audience typically feels more comfortable at places like the Black Cat and DC9. However, by moving to a predominately-gay club, the Crack team hopes to attract new gay fans who normally wouldn't venture outside of the Beyonce-heavy confines of the gay club scene.

If you're gay or straight, go. You'll be glad that you did.

I think that is so stupid that people is addicted to drugs because you can't get away from it. And it is so nasty so when I grow up, I am not going to do any drugs like cocaine or crack or any of those drugs that will kill me.
