Ok, let’s check weather.com first… looks good. 75 and no rain. Hopefully it won’t be too humid. I’ve already announced to the BYT staff that we’re spending 1 more year doing this then moving the operation to LA. I’ve had enough of swamp crotch and am craving nosebleeds.
Thursday
At Velvet Lounge we have a very BYT-approved lineup.
At 9:30 Club we have Manchester pop mainstays James, who have reformed and put out a new album. Anybody heard it?
Apparently there is an open mic thing going on at Dahlak but there are already bands lined up days in advance. How does that work?
Then there is weekly bingo at Sticky Rice with seems to start somewhere around 9-10:30 depending on which part of Svet’s post you read. There also seems to be a Wii involved somehow, again, details are vague. Speaking of Wii, I got the Wii Fit the other day. Now my ass is gonna be even more freakishly skinny.
Finally, the dude with the best Brazilian records in the city is spinning.
Friday
I recommend going to dinner at Fogo De Chao and getting your savory meats on. Bring earplugs. Then get the bacon wrapped fillet and pork ribs, put in the earplugs, close your eyes, and focus all your attention on your sense of taste. They’ll be a little wet spot on your chair when you leave. Careful not to overdo it on the cheese balls at the beginning.

This excursion will overlap this potentially interesting but unfortunately timed film showing.
Go to the bathroom and do a little finger force so you can head over to the Cat for one of Spencer Krug’s many many projects.
If it sells out, hit up some ex-Swervedrivers at Dahlak down the road or either of the free off-the-beaten-path DJ events with cool flyers going on here and here.
Saturday
Let’s do a road trip. There are a bunch of Alpaca farms out in VA where you can just show up and look at them. They’re sort of like Llamas. They’ll try to sell you some though no matter how irresponsible you look, it’s ridiculous. Try here or google for more. They smell real bad and spit, but look like they’re from Star Wars so it’s cool.

While you’re out in the middle of nowhere, keep going a little further and take a free tour of Monticello, be inspired by Jefferson’s grand ideas for this country and then go sit by a bush (pun intended) and quietly weep over the current state of affairs.
Or maybe head north to Baltimore. The AMAZING American Visionary Arts Museum is running at half mast as they build up the next year-long exhibit (shame on you for missing the last one) but the gift shop is fantastic. Last time I got a pink corduroy cowboy hat. Plus when was the last time you went to the Baltimore Aquarium? The dolphin show is totally awesome. But what you should really do is just consult our weekly Baltimore guide.
Ok, when you get back to the city, get your afrobeat on, or some mashups, but whatever you do, be sure to end up here.
Sunday
Rent Speed Racer. No, really. Forget the fact that it got panned, I’m telling you, it’s incredible.
Sit in your breakfast nook and read a book. Jena recommends these, while I’m going with ‘13 Things That Don’t Make Sense‘.
Don’t forget to watch Tim & Eric which is currently in Season 3 on Cartoon Network.
And of course, play some Wii Fit.
SPECIAL EXTENDED BEST WEEKEND BETS EDITION
Don’t forget to practice for the All-City Air Guitar Competition @ Wonderland next Tues.
As always - add your suggestions below, I mean, what do I know?

September 18, 2008 at 5:15 pmI was going to suggest to Cale to do what i do. Don’t work in the daytime at all. Just spend all day in your underwear at your computer. Break it up with the occasional child feeding and diaper change. Don’t forget to take a nap! Later, do some dishes and then make dinner.
Well, i guess that doesn’t leave much time for Fogo De Chao.
