May is FOOD MONTH on BYT (after SEX, focusing only on life’s necessities with our themes) and as such you can expect a visual overload of food posts. One of the regular columns we are doing is: WHAT’S IN YOUR FRIDGE; where we explore the window to everyone’s soul: the contents of their fridge/freezer.
We will be intruding onto the kitchens local people of note, readers, food critics and chefs, pr people and beyond.
Today: We barge into Scott Drewno's whirlpool
Things you should know before we start: Scott has been making waves at Wolfgang Puck's The Source for a couple of years now. Before that, he and his wife Alison (they've been together for 20 years now, since high school and Kimberly and I will both atest to them seeming like one of the happiest, most genuine couples we've ever laid our eyes on, as well as wonderful hosts and music lovers) lived in Vegas where Scott worked at Chinois and Spago and New York City where he was a chef at Ruby Foo's making him a perfect fit for The Source's high-end pan-asian cuisine.
Here is what we found inside their Mass Avenue condo:

SIDE DOORS:
lots of cheeses, diet cokes, diet pepsis, maille mustards (they recently visited the Maille factory in France and the fridge shows it), Anchovy fillets, Horse Radish, Uncle Brutha's Hot Sauce, Sriracha, more Hot Sauce (actually 4 more hot sauces), pearlized onionons, sliced jalapenos, hot banana pepper rings, worchester sauce, anchovy paste, honey, cornichons, balsamic, ken's steak house salad dressing

In the fridge itself:
Heineken, Coronas, Lard, More Maille Mustard, Hummus, Greek Yogurt, Hot Mango Chutney, Mango Pickles, Grape Jelly, Horseradish jelly, Jalapeno Jelly (there is apparently a jam obsession and competitiveness inside the Drewno clan), Sweat Peach Chutney, Herman J. Weiners hot dogs, Mayo, Herring Fillets, Eggs, Chorizo from Eastern Market, Tortillas, Chicken Shu-mai, Artichokes
In the meat crisper:
Butter, Prosciuto, Beef, Taylor Pork Roll (that Scott swears by), Beef Sticks, Pork Jowl (our second one, after Edelman-Duncan's fridge), Beef franks
In the veggie crispers:
Onions, avocados, kale, brocolli, peppers, baby greens, potatoes
IN THE FREEZER:
Triple Caramel Chunk Ben & Jerry's, Zweigel's Hot Dogs, Left overs: chilli, pasta, lasagna ("Allison makes the best lasagna" Scott chimes in), Pure Beef Sandwich steaks, taquitos, fla-vor-ice, Carnitas (port taco leftovers. Allison says: "I usually cook but when Scott cooks, he makes SO MUCH OF EVERYTHING. Wha twe have here leftover is after we ate it a couple of times and my sister hosted a taco party for 15 people"), Pate wrapped in Bacon, Chicken Breast, Ham Hawks, Pizza Rolls
And that is what is in Scott Drewno's fridge.

God loves a cheerful giver.

Where can you buy Taylor pork roll around here? Coming from the Garden State that is a treasure!
I've picked it up at Harris Teeter. They always seem to have it. And of course you know to score the sides so it doesn't curl when cooking (just noting for any non GS-ers).
Porkroll, Egg & Cheese = bliss
I love me some Scott Drewno. He makes the best vegan food...and judging from his fridge, it must hurt his soul every time.
Was that a bottle of CISCO??
I'm always surprised when chefs drink shit like Diet Coke, that isn't delicious or a real food....
also, vegans...shut up already...always so damn self righteous. I'm vegetarian and eat cheese JUST so I don't have to call myself "vegan". well ok, it's because it's yummy too...but vegans give vegetarianism a bad name....shut up!!!
