This week Eastern Market reopens, it’s Farmer’s Market season, the Pug goes green, City Paper’s best restaurant guide, Meat Free Mondays, Breadline is nasty, Capital Lounge’s food is okay and I wonder what John Foster will think of this packaging.
- EASTERN MARKET REOPENS ON FRIDAY – Info here and on Capital Spice with photos.

- If you’re looking for farmer’s markets this summer. You can check out our post from last year. The Washington Post has also updated their list of local markets.
- The Pug gets a green roof and a mention in the NY Times. They are planning on using fresh grown produce (chillies and tomatoes) to make Bloody Marys.
- Tim Carman at the City Paper puts our his dining guide of 50 best restaurants in DC. Keeps off Palena, Eve, Citronelle, Minibar, CityZen, 2Amys and Ray’s Hell Burger. Why? Because it’s redundant to keep talking about them. Bold choice sir, bold choice.
- What could bring Yoko Ono and Paul McCartney together? Just the cause of Meat Free Mondays. Meat Free Mondays is a global movement that believes we can make major changes to the Earth and your health by doing something as simple as going vegetarian one day a week. Local blogger Stefanie Gans from Endless Simmer is even contributing over at Washington Post with an easy recipe showing how she went meatless for one meal.

- Breadline closed temorarily due to 19 health code violations. City Paper has the full inspection report. If you need a sandwich fix, go to Best Sandwich Place off 18th Street.
- Josh over at DCist goes to Capital Lounge to check out the new menu since the kitchen came under control of Teddy Folkman. While the menu is expanded, it looks like the food still needs a little work. In the meantime, keep on drinking.
- Fabulous new packaging for Orea and Ritz this summer.

No – but they demoted the arson investigators who tried to push the case.

i for one will be upping my meat consumption in general (no small feat) in order to offset any affects caused by pretend vegetarianism.

not to get off subject, but did they ever find the person who started that fire at EM? all that awesome hardware and those original round windows destroyed. someone should be in solitary.
