This week SweetGreen expands, $1 bar food, Chef Spike does pizza, Buddah Bar and Kushi update, Puro in GTown, taste of Arlington, bus to Philly, free pancakes, cute kids, eating cats and a killer avocado.
- SweetGreen is expanding with three new locations. First to open is their Logan Circle location on Friday, and it'll be featuring new lettuce-less salads, my favorite kind.
- I wouldn't normally recommend Asia Nine, but they are doing $1 Olympic bar food from 4:30 -9:30 daily, until 2/28.
- We the Pizza, a new joint by Chef Spike is getting set to open. Thin crust pizzas, gelato, sandwiches and take-home dinners - plus private rooms for parties! (Via NBC4)

- Washington Business Journal says that Buddah Bar may be open in May.
- Kushi, an Izakaya-style Japanese gastropub will open in a few weeks. Urban Daddy has a first look, but BYT will getting a better one soon.
- Has anyone tried Puro yet in Georgetown? It reminds me a bit of Leopold's in concept and look, and that's a good thing. Here's the menu, which includes Argentine alfajor cookies and macarons, but $5 for a glass of juice?

- Taste of Arlington is coming up.Through March 15th, buy tickets through Capital Cooking for just $15.
And the round up:
- Philly is a great food town, but a pain to get to. No more! Starting March 21, MegaBus is offering direct bus service.
- Next Tuesday is National Pancake Day, which means free pancakes at IHOP from 7-10 am. Unrelated, I once dropped my cell phone in a toilet at the IHOP in Arlington and had to fish it out. Still worked.
- Got a kid? Is he/she cute? Endless Simmer wants pictures of your tykes eating. The contest for cutest eater runs through February.

- Peet's Coffee Facebook contest - win some of their newly launched Uzuri African blend coffee!
- Italian celeb food writer gets in trouble for recommending "stewed cat."
- Sometimes an avocado just wants to fuck shit up...or murder.
