So we are making some changes here in food. First off, be sure to follow @BYTEatDrink for running updates on food and beverage news in the area. Second, check out the calendar for more foodie related events. We're ramping up that effort and want your help. Send tips, suggestions and listings to eatdrink@brightestyoungthings.com
Some local stuff:
- Check out the calendar for details the following events: Food blogger happy hour at Againn; Cupcake design class at Hello Cupcake; Real Men Cook at Rosa Mexicano; a Latino Shabbat dinner at 6th and I; and a pig butchering workshop at Greenbranch farm.
- Did you catch Dave Stroups' pics from the soon to open Capital City Diner?

- The schedule for DC's inaugural Meat Week is up. You'll find me gnawing on ribs at Mr. P's on Saturday Feb. 6, in the Home Depot Safeway parking lot on Rhode Island Ave NE. Anyone else?
- Pete's New Haven Style Apizza is opening a second location in Friendship Heights.
- Last night ACKC has a wince and chocolate tasting. The reason? To kick in their new liquor license. Congratulations!
- Fritz Hahn from the Washington Post gives the good news that Brasserie Beck is now offering a late night happy hour, from 10 pm to close, with 1/2 price oysters!
And the round up:
- Four stupidly expensive dishes in New York. The $1000 bagel and cream cheese. The $1000 pizza. The $1000 omelet. The $1000 ice cream sundae. (Via Endless Simmer)
- Haggis, the iconic food of Scotland, may be available for import into the US. In case you were craving sheep's lung and oatmeal mashed into a pudding and stuffing into a stomach. Oddly, I'm totally down!
- You dropped food on the floor, do you eat it?

- German kids are weenies and can't handle their hot sauce.
- Then this German genius goes along and makes records out of chocolate! Polka records...in chocolate.
God loves a cheerful giver.
Mr. P's Ribs and Fish is in the Safeway parking lot across the street from Home Depot. Just an FYI.
Only 535,000 scoville units? That barely makes the list of the hottest.
P.S. Alex have you tried that place we e-mailed about yet?
Thanks Mindy - duly noted and corrected. Thanks!
Michael - NOT YET, but I mentioned it to the beau and he rolled his eyes and asked if all I think about is food.
