This week there's good Spike news, the Fojol Brothers, Beard Awards, Obama eats, chef moves, new salads, people taste like bacon and whole chicken in a can.
- From Nycci Nellis at TheListAreYouOnIt.com: Top Chef Bus Tour will stop in Adams Morgan on Saturday, May 9th. Live demos all day by Chef Spike Mendelsohn. Email mamendel@hotmail.com for more details.
- According to Capital Spice, "keep an eye on the space next door (to Good Stuff Eatery). Spike and his family have purchased Zack’s Taverna, and their plan is to completely renovate and upgrade before opening an Italian restaurant in the space...Pair this news with the pizza plans Spike shared with New York’s Grub Street, and you’ve got a pretty good idea of what’s in store next door."

- If you're not aware already, the Fojol Brothers of Merlinida are hitting the streets of D.C. each weekend serving up a traveling culinary carnival of tasty Indian cuisine. You can find them by following @fojolbros.
- DC chefs were totally shut out at the Beard Awards, even in the Mid-Atlantic categories. Whatever, haters are just mad becuase we have Obama.
- But, serious congratulations the Washington Post for winning a Beard Award for "Best Newspaper Food Section."
-

- The Obamas went to Citronelle for date night on Saturday. She had the lobster burger, he had the 72-hour short ribs. And then on Tuesday, Obama and Biden went to Ray's Hell Burger for lunch. Medium well, really?
- Rock Harper, winner of "Hell's Kitchen," is leaving his position at Ben's Next Door and is heading to The Caryle Club.
- Freshii, a Canadian-based salad chain, is opening five locations in D.C. Salads are the new frozen yogurt.
- According to a cute little Japanese robot, people taste like bacon...or at least proscuitto.
